Objective
Develop a telephony-based notification system to streamline communication between parents, teachers, and students during the student pick-up process.
Project description
The Hong Kong school required telephony application to be developed to notify individual teachers about parent arrival. The parent would dial the number from their phone. The solution was developed to integrate Twilio with internal student information system, which sent a Google Chat notification to the teachers upon parent arrival. The system would lookup parent phone number from the Student Information system, find the relevant class period, subject and teacher and send Google Chat notification to the relevant teacher. Conditions catered for multiple calls, so that only single notification would be sent, un-identified numbers, calling outside the given timeframe. Since student information system would not have external API the automated data import/export flow was developed to have data put into Notion. The third stakeholder in the process was the Business Office to monitor parent arrival live, so the Notion Dashboard was created to enable the stakeholder to monitor the process. To monitor Efficiency the solution Google Data Studio was plugged into the data collection. The implementation of the solution has saved the client 2000+ hours a year in teacher, business office staff and student learning time.
